By this date elements of American Div have pushed along N coast of Guadalcanal to a position S of Pt Cruz where they wait until a general offensive can be prepared following the arrival of reinforcements. In an effort to rejuvenate the drive on Tunis, elements of British 1st Parachute Brig are dropped at Depienne by Twelfth AF C-47s, but the objective of capturing Oudna A/F and threatening Tunis (10 mi to the N) fails because of overwhelming def of the A/F. Over 300 casualties are suffered by the paratroops. P-38s and DB-7s attack Gabes A/F while other US ftrs operate with RAF out of Bone, furnishing air cover for ground units in battle area.
